Access AfterSchool’s SecondShift is an afterschool enrichment program for middle school students emphasizing seven core youth development (e.g., leadership, responsibility, collaborative problem solving) and college/career readiness skills that young people need to thrive. In the 2017-18 school year, SecondShift served 1,056 middle school students in five schools across three counties in rural Western Colorado.
Parents are extremely satisfied with programming: Parent satisfaction rates exceed 97%. Recently, SecondShift parents have shared:
“My son was involved in the activity and was excited to stay in the program.”
“My son loved this class!”
“Thank you and keep it going, please!”
With these important positive impacts, it is clear that Access AfterSchool makes a significant
