SecondShift is a program made available through Access AfterSchool where kids stay AfterSchool, enjoy a snack and attend a unique enrichment class for only $25.00 per class. SecondShift at Basalt Middle School is offered on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday from 3:30 to 5:00pm. Classes are open to all middle school aged students.

** Please see class start dates on each class. All classes run through the week before winter break.

Fall 2021 Course List

5th Grade Homework Help

This class is for 5th grade students who need either a quiet place to complete work after school or require a little more teacher instruction in order to learn key concepts. Students sign up to attend regularly and attendance will be taken each day of class.

6th Grade Homework Help

This class is for 6th grade students who need either a quiet place to complete work after school or require a little more teacher instruction in order to learn key concepts. Students sign up to attend regularly and attendance will be taken each day of class.

7th Grade Homework Help

This class is for 7th grade students who need either a quiet place to complete work after school or require a little more teacher instruction in order to learn key concepts. Students sign up to attend regularly and attendance will be taken each day of class.

Cooking class

Baking with Ms. B! Join Ms. B for a weekly baking class on Tuesdays starting October 5 and ending December 14. We will be learning some of the basics of baking, learning about cultural desserts/baked goods, have some holiday themed days, and even get a chance to bring in a recipe of your choosing to try! Baking can be a great tool to manage stress while getting to eat your delicious hard work. “If there’s a whisk, there’s a way!”

Board Game Club

Do you like to play board games? Come learn how to play Catan after school! Do you already know how to play? Then come learn different strategies, play different expansion packs, and compete against your friends! Join Ms Howard after school on Tuesdays, snacks and fun will be had!

Drama Club

Join Drama Club to explore your creativity and collaborate with your friends. Through drama games, improvisation, playwriting and more, you will have so much fun learning all about theater. This class is free of charge from a generous scholarships.

Outdoor adventures with Roaring Fork Conservancy

Kids will learn about nature through hands on explorations, games, hikes and arts and crafts. Students will safely explore our rivers, discover what animals and plants make up our natural/riparian areas, and understand what they can do to protect it.
